5 Days of intense PostgreSQL training covering:
• Building and installing PostgreSQL
• Creating databases and schemas
• Users and access control
• Logs
• Writing effective PostgreSQL code
• Modifying SQL
• Using views and rules
• Understanding indexes
• Administration
• Server side programming (PL/pgSQL, C)
• Backups
• Monitoring
• Large objects (Blobs)
• Transactions
• Concurrency issues
• Views
• Triggers
• Rules
• Query plans and basic optimization
• Importing and exporting data
• VACUUM
• Write-Ahead Log and Checkpoints
• User rights
After being lectured on a topic, students will gain hands-on experience by doing exercises on the
presented material. Lunch is included.
Students are encouraged to take the PostgreSQL 8 Administrator exam upon completion of the course.
Prerequisites: Students should have basic SQL skills. Windows or Linux users are welcome.
